E ngā uri o Tama te kapua

Tēnā koutou.

We endeavour to hold regular hui on the 2nd to last Sunday of each month. These alternate between hui-ā-whānau and hui-ā-waiata. each month.

Take a look at the wātaka (calendar) to check the kaupapa for the upcoming one, and also the venue.

Most often they are held at one of the member's homes or in hired venues when there are larger numbers.

Mandating completed for Tapuika

in

Although it has not been officially announced, the final of three mandating hui was held at Tuheke marae yesterday, Sunday 31 August 2008.

Another large turnout heard from the claims co-ordinator Piatarihi Callaghan in her presentation of the journey this far concerning the historical claims of Tapuika and the role of the Tapuika Iwi Authority Trust in bringing the process thus far.

The assembled uri again gave their unanimous support for the Trust to continue with the mahi.

Tapuika Claims progress - Te Waipounamu Trustee report

in

Tēnā koutou

Throughout this year, the Tapuika Iwi Authority Trust has been progressing the direct negotiations with the crown to settle its historical treaty claims. Initially Tapuika were asked to join with near neigbours Ngāti Makino and Waitaha. Although Taouika endeavoured to see this through, our whanaunga signed their own Terms of Agreement with the crown early in 2008. In recent months Tapuika have joined with our other whanaunga over the back hills, Ngāti Rangiwewehi and it has proved to be a joyous union.

Sponsorship

At this point in time, we are sponsoring 3 taiohi from Te Kura Whakapumau I Te Reo Tuturu Ki Waitaha who will be attending Te Kura Reo in Ahuriri/Napier next week.
Whilst they are affilliated to other iwi, my thoughts go back to our first wananga at Kura which each of these boys supported with their attendance and took away knowledge which they have applied at Kura.

All three are outstanding advocates of the Reo and Performing Arts, and can be seen as future leaders in whatever huarahi they choose to pursue.

He aitua!

Tangihanga:

Tuarua, kua mate a Tihei Pirika tetahi o nga papa o Eva i Te Roro-o-Te-Rangi i Rotorua.
